Plant Compendium

Stomach settling - noxious, wet moss essence - (If you can get past the smell, the taste is pleasant, and sooths most all gastric ills. But the smell's like something curled up to die and has been sitting in the sun for a while.)
Found in tunnels with a certain humidity level, prefers wet environments and feeds on the nutrients in the runoff water dripping down. (Any areas that pass UNDER the lake or river)
Preparation: SQUEEZE, it juices unpleasantly.

Painkillers - Soft, red petaled flower on long reedy stems
Found in isolated clumps in most of the flower patches at the lake
Preparation: Splitting the stem will bleed a translucent white 'milk.' It is numbing to the fingers, can be applied directly to a wound for pain relief. Less potent are the leaves, which chewing on is unpleasantly bitter, but can offer mild pain relief. All other portions of the plant should be avoided as toxic.

Antiseptic - Soft green lichen
Found growing sporadically on cave walls to the south of the North Block housing areas.
Preparation: Scraped off the walls with a knife, while still fresh and smells 'tangy' applied with the bandages for an antiseptic effect. Aids in the healing process, takes between one to three days off of the average healing process.

Sedatives - spiny berries
Found on vines in the eastern tunnels. The berries grow in small clumps protected by nettles. The nettles are annoying but not poisonous.
Preparation: May be eaten straight (no more than 4-5 berries recommended; 6-10 will work as a quick-acting deep sleep agent for but the blank ingesting them will sleep well over a day, wake up groggy and dehydrated), or juiced (one teaspoonful) Sweet, sleep usually within the half an hour. Restful. Groggy and uncoordinated for an hour of game time after waking up.

Muscle Relaxant - Frogs!
Found in the muddy shallows of the lake. Females only have the effect. Females have yellow spots along their backs to warn predators.
Preparation: Cook em up and nom. Tasty! Sedation and 'floppy' or heavy limbed sensation should follow quickly. Not lethal except in really excessive amounts (IE, do not feed to Allen Walker)
(More advanced, the skin can be stripped and boiled, liquid strained is viscous and can be used to tip weapons for a much more powerful, quicker acting sedative.)

Antihistamine - Shrub like plant with violet flowers
Found along the riverside
Preparation: The leaves can be ground, they have a sharp, acidic smell when doing so. Leaves are thick and juice easily. The liquid from them can be used topically to relieve rashes, insect bites, and other symptoms of allergic reactions. One to two drops directly under the tongue can aid in more serious reactions such as the airways closing.
If it bears fruit, the berries might be useful for cramps? Possibly can be dried and powdered to preserve them.

Burn care - Long, fat grass-like leaves.
Found in small patches on the way to the forges. (Live on evaporated moisture from the heat? SURE WHY NOT.)
Preparation: Snapping the leaves will produce a viscous, cool gel. Immediately takes the pain and speeds the healing process. Best on low level burns but has practical use on higher level ones when mixed with the green lichen.

Fever reducing agent - Squat plants with spiked leaves, leaves only, leaves must have the thorns removed
Found near the lake and some parts around the river where the water pools, often half in the water itself.
Preparation: ground and seeped in hot water to drink - (A cup every 3-4 hours for best effect)

CAFFEINE - Bitter root (Not introduced in the game)
Found in areas of heavy vegetation. The plant this root comes from is black and reedy, often hard to find by torch light. Easier to spot the insects and small animals that have died trying to eat the leaves, the root is the only safe part of the plant.
Preparation: The root should be dried, peeled and ground. A small amount of the white powder can be added to drinks or food to make it palatable and not do bad things to your heart.
Notes: Addictive, central nervous stimulant with a long half life, useful in bloating, asthma, and not killing cheerful people in the morning.

Nerve Tonic - Scraggly, red veined leaves (Stinkweed) (Hydra only knows about them)
Found in small clumps of low growing patches by the waterfall
Preparation: Grind, boil for 10 minutes in water, set for 1 hour for potency. Twice daily for effect. Quickly aids effects caused by nerve damage. Horrible smell and taste, causes mild mood regulation for a good time period. All other parts of the plant are deadly toxic and concentrated solutions made from them can be absorbed through the skin. (Rigors, difficulty breathing, muscle spasms, ringing in the ears, auditory hallucinations, coma and death. Blanks already warned not to use anything but the leaves.)

OTHERS:

Green-stemmed plant with large clumps of pink flowers -milkweed
Found by the lake! Flowers make you mildly gassy, the rest full of vitamin A

A very delicate plant with thin stem and small leaves, a very pleasant scent - Thyme
Found by the lake! TASTY good for tea.

Large textured leaves that leave a pleasing scent on your hands when they touch it - Mint
Found by the lake! Tasty, good for sinuses and throat

woody stalks with bright green leaves - geraniums
Found by the lake! ... They're pretty?

Soft green hollow stems with a pungent scent -bamboo
In super isolated clumps in the shallows of the lake. Leeches like to hang around there too~~ Note! Not big enough to make spears from, these are wimpy little tubes and may be useful in making small nets or baskets if you are careful, patient and keep it wet.

Garden Plants
You can grow them in your garden. Wilder versions may be found while foraging, if you know where to look.

Some broad leaves directly growing from large white tubers -potatoes
Poisonous leaves! You know about these badboys.

They are Rune Factory magic Sabra potatoes. They take nine days from planting to crop, and each plant yields six potatoes at best (the wild plants produce sad-looking ones which, over time and careful cultivation, can be brought up to regular-sized ones. Excel's secret crop on the other hand has already attained this size).

Like any other crop, they are subject to pests and scavengers in and out of the ground, although squidrats are smart enough to wait for humans to harvest them out before raiding.

A wise farmer could theoretically split a potato in halves to grow two plants from the same piece.

A fat purple flower that grows directly out of the ground with almost no greenery at all to speak of -chives
Is this enough ecosystem for the lake? TASTY

Onions

Beans

Milky Root Vegetable
They can not be cultivated, they must be found wild. In colder wild tunnels, pale blue leaves means that they are growling beneath the stone. The stone will be very brittle, so it is not impossible, but it is a little and difficult and time-consuming to get it out. On the plus side, they're very large and keep well. They're not very good for much but crushing milk from as far as food goes, but maybe someone with enough ingenuity can figure out something to do with the fibrous pulp.

Wall Plants
They grow on the walls of caves.

Cabbage
Found in hot areas, near lava flow and geothermal vents. It looks, cooks and tastes exactly like cabbage.

Berries
Small sweet berries with a metallic aftertaste. They grow on vines with small, bitter leaves (edible if boiled for a long time), and are found in the same areas as the cabbage.

Mushrooms
The edible and hallucinatory types look almost exactly the same. Found in some tunnel-type caves.

OTHER OTHER

Glowy Flowers
Location: lakeside
They are bioluminescent and produce much of the lighting for the lake zone.

Glowing moss
The light source for some parts of the caves where there aren't handy torches on the walls.

Bestiary Swiki

Everywhere you are

Squidrats Swiki
Squidrats are a pain in the ass. Smart, cooperative, and able to fit into any crack or crevice smaller than their own mouth, these pests come in large numbers and eat all your food. If you've hidden your food? They've found it. Maybe you've frozen your food? They love cold places. Perhaps you secured your food in an impenetable safe? They just figured out the combination. You can't keep squidrats out of food, no matter what you do. Period.

Even if you do manage to catch and kill one, their meat is practically unpalatable.

Lake Side

Pederpes wiki
It has "derp" right in the name. The average pederpes is just over three feet long. They are well adapted to land life but spend a lot of time chilling and hunting in the lake. They are more like lizards than amphibians. Tasty eating and easier hunting than the fatty lizards, but not nearly as large and filling.
Cat-sized lizards. There used to be larger ones of different genetic stock (so no one has to retcon), but you all just ate them into extinction. Oops!

Beebats
Live in a massive hive that plasters the entire ceiling and gather nectar from the flowers at night. They are bat-sized and the drones are bio-luminescent. They produce delicious, delicious honey, if you can get to it, and also if they don't sting you to death with their stingers and stinging. When attacked by beebats, jumping in the lake MAY help, but they are persistent! They only collect pollen at night, being... bats, and anyone frolicking in flowers at that time of night may encounter some.

Bearbees
RIVAL TO THE BEEBATS!!111 Live in a massive hive behind the waterfall. They tend to eat fish from the lake.

Butterflies

Drop Panda ... :/

Lake

Fishes
Are made for eating :/

Ugly Fish
In Sabra deep water, Ugly Fish eats you.

Isopods
There are many horrible creatures at the bottom of the lake, such as sea worms and isopods. They're extremely hard to get to because they're so deep, and the Uglyfish is lurking.

Leeches

Badgercrocs
Badger + Crocodile
They lay eggs and are mammals. The nest can be raided at the risk of a very short, very bloody and almost so pitifully onesided fight that it will be hilarious.

Wild Caves

Fatty Lizards
Fatty lizards have heavy plating on the outside, and meat on the inside. The average fatty lizard is about the size of a cow, though some are much larger and more dangerous. One fun fact about fatty lizards is that they all tend to crap in the same places, and those are putrid places indeed.

Raptors (Velociraptors?)
Bitey lizards are bitey and mean. They're highly intelligent and highly powerful. Be careful! You might lose an arm.

Cave Corgies
They are corgis that live in caves. Soldier's patron animal.

Terapedes
The average terapede is the width of your arm and at least a meter long. It will eat your everything. HOLY SHIT

Hotzone

Salamander
Like that only on fire. Magic fire. Fire burning from their NAPALM SKIN.
To render it into edible condition, a Blank would have to remove said napalm skin, which is tough and relentlessly burning even after death. The removal of burning glands is also necessary. Hence a specific set of tools would be required. In general the effort required to kill and process these creatures doesn't seem to be worth it.
A napalmander is inextinguishable. Throwing a napalmander into a body of water results in a constant high rate of evaporation of said water with no loss to the creature's burny capacity.

Other:

Wolfaboo
Patron animal of the King. It does not appear to know whether it is a sabertooth tiger or dire wolf, but this confusion causes it very little problems in day-to-day life.

Cavepecker
Large. FUCKING LARGE WINGED BEASTY THAT WANTS TO EAT YOU AND HAS A FOWL TEMPER
Can use it's beak like a wood pecker except it drills through solid rock and probably provides most of the caves around Sabra area. :x
That fucker looked like a raptor with wings and a sword for a mouth.
... And the sword-for-a-mouth spins.
Spinning beak, could run on the ground as well as fly, and the only weakspot I managed to find was the eyes.

Banana slugs
DELICIOUS .... apparently this is mocking...?

Territory

Maps

Swiki

Note:
Knee-high rocks

The entrance to the North, South, and West Blocks are surrounded by knee-high rocks. When a Blank approaches them, they suddenly and instinctually realize that they will have to find another way in.
The exception to this is Ophiuchus members; they can step over knee-high rocks, and the entrance to their dorm is surrounded by them.

North Block

The Arena
The Arena is the heart of Sabra La Tau, both in purpose and geography. It is also the only open space Blanks will see while they remain here. Approximately half a mile in diameter and thousands of feet tall, the Arena is actually a vast cavern, in which various structures (including an actual arena) may be found. There are four entrances, one at each of the cardinal directions, opening up about halfway up the side of the walls. Four sets of narrow stairs are caved into the rock face, winding around the perimeter down to the floor bellow. At the center of the Arena stands the Judge's throne. The presiding Judge will be the first thing the Blanks can see as they begin their decent.

Surrounding the throne are the decaying ruins of what must have once been a beautiful complex. Among the standing building is a small colosseum-like structure with seating for several hundred, and a temple void of statues or any imagery. There are many other structures too deteriorated. The streets from place to place has grass and roots or even trees pushing up through the stones.

Light shines down from an unidentifiable source from above, bright enough to be daylight. "Day" in the Arena lasts as long as the Game, regardless of actual time involved. Players enter to soft dawn light, and leave as twilight falls. When Games are not being played, the Arena is lit only as much as a moonless night, and the Judge's throne sits empty.

There is very little to scavenge here, unless you're looking for rocks. There is some scrubby grass, but no real useful plants.

Pillar
The be all end all of Monoceros. Err... I mean, the blanks who fail to get Good End.

The Library
The library is full of books in indecipherable language. There are also a few in languages you might recognize; they are all terrible romance novels. Even the ones that seem like children's books, if cracked, are likely to contain bad porn.

Some books the library contains:

۞ The Voynich manuscript
۞ The Codex Seraphinianus
۞ Bad Twin (in Norwegian)
۞ Twilight. In every language.

The Forge
A building relatively close to the eastern hot zone. Initially contained:

- a forge which functions using a natural volcanic flow (somehow).
- an anvil *
- several hammers of different sizes and shapes hung on the walls (sledgehammer, fuller, flatter, etc etc) *
- several tongs of different sizes and shapes hung on the walls *
- a dilapidated rotten-through grindstone machine
- an empty barrel and a bucket

* - items labelled with "WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT REMOVE FROM FORGE"

Improvements to date:

- Barrel is now always filled to 3/4ths with water by Claude
- Assorted extra forging tools (a chisel, punchers, a rough hardy), kept mostly in the forge itself (by Day 51)
- Grindstone machine repaired to BETTER, FASTER, GRINDIER form by Kururu (Day ??)

Item Creation Record:

- Extra forging tools
- Fugly Longsword - requested by Nora for Nico (completed Day 45, due for upgrading)
- 1.5 Footlong Rough Handsaw Blade (completed Day 51 evening)

Metal Supply Remaining: ~40% of a metal rex claw

Beyond the dorm area, one can find the occasional spot of fertile ground growing some of Sabra's diverse flora. One can also occasionally find signs of some of the fauna; animal droppings (it should be noted that fatty lizard droppings, especially, are not only gigantic but also incredibly, incredibly foul smelling), small chips of gnawed bone, plants that have been gnawed to the root. Absent completely are any traces of flesh or blood, though one may find small, circular holes burrowed through the rock in some places.

In terms of geographical features: there are geothermal vents to the far north; cave corgis can be found here. Going north-west, towards the dorms of the North Block, one finds tunnels that dead-end into walls of what looks like huge handfuls of packed mud and feels like cement. Go east and you may run into magma flows and very, very large circular tunnels, large enough for a blank to stand in. Going south and, especially southwest, you might run into more tunnels that end in mud-packed walls.

And there is, of course, lots and lots and lots of rock. Stalactites and stalagmites are common, and the further out you go, the more treacherous the path becomes, when there's a path at all. There are simple drops and deep drops, and dark crevices in the floor and ceiling both. The maze-like areas on the map truly are three-dimensional mazes, and it really only takes a bit of inattention to lose your way. Plant life becomes less common the further out you go, though there's the occasional pool of water or submerged tunnel.

We can get stuff like obsidian, granite, and pumice stones in the areas around the magma flows

DORM AREA STUFFS

There's no kitchen equipment list, but conversation between us went along the lines of, if you would have it on a real ROUGHING IT camping trip, you would probably have it in Sabra. So yeah, basic equipment, pots, pans and pokey things.
